Create this homework caddy & make a hard time of day EASIER.
If you’re determined to make this school year more organized than the last – here’s a fun tip you might want to try!
Jamie here! The school year is about to begin for us here in Cleveland, TN. The homework hasn’t started yet – but oh it’s coming… With four children in school, homework time can be a bit hectic. Nearly every day someone is asking me to get the crayons down from the top of the refrigerator or find them a pen, or where is that darn pencil sharpener? This year I put together a little homework caddy to make it simpler for the kids to find everything they need in one spot.
I picked up this metal container at T.J. Maxx awhile back for $3.99. I’m not sure what it’s supposed to be – perhaps a flatware caddy? Or a little planter? Regardless, I used to use it for my makeup and brushes – but having it near the bathroom sink seemed like an invitation for rust, so I re-purposed it for our homework caddy.
When the kids come home from school, I plop this down in the middle of the table so all their supplies are at hand.
Here’s what I put inside our homework caddy:
- Colored Pencils
- Glue Stick
- Pencil Sharpener
- Big Pink Eraser
You could also throw in a calculator, ruler, compass, etc…
This is just the right size to set on our kitchen computer cart next to the paper supply. The next shelf down houses the printer and laptop. And the cabinet at the bottom houses a basket full of cords, mouses, computer speakers, etc… It’s homework (and couponing!) central in our house and doesn’t take up more than a tiny corner near the table!
If you’re short on space and in need of a homework hub like ours – here’s a very similar shelf! It gets 4 1/2 stars and is just big enough for a printer (bottom shelf), a few stacked laptops, paper and homework supplies.
