4th of July cake ideas… Firecracker Cookie Cake
Nothing says 4th of July food quite like a cookout (although this crockpot barbecue chicken recipe is a pretty close second ;)) And while I like a good cheeseburger as much as the next guy, If I’m honest, I’m really just killing time until dessert. If you’re looking for some new 4th of July cake ideas to bring out after the burgers and brats, I think you’ll love this one!
I made this Firecracker Cookie Cake last year for the kids because I was short on time and patience. It was a big hit, so I’ll probably make it again this year. I let the older boys create the fireworks display with sprinkles – so they could feel like they contributed to the party prep.
This 4th of July Cookie Cake was super easy to make. Bake a package of refrigerated cookie dough into a 12″ pan to make a huge cookie. That takes about 15 minutes and requires only 1 dirty dish – the cookie pan. (Praise Jesus!)
Next, spread frosting over the top of the cookie and using red, white and blue sprinkles, create a pattern of fireworks bursting.

For an evening spent outside in the heat, you can’t beat a cookie cake. Your guests can grab a slice and plop down on a blanket to watch the real fireworks put on a show. Easy to make, easy to eat, and virtually no mess. That’s my kind of cake!

A cookie cake would also make a great backdrop for a “fruity” fireworks display – I may try that this year!
