Cat Facts Prank {The best April Fool’s prank I’ve EVER pulled}

·

Jamie here! If you’re looking for an April Fool’s Day prank that will really “get” somebody good –  I highly recommend the Cat Facts Prank!!

(NOTE: I’ve updated this post with directions to set up a Google Voice account – which you’ll need to text anonymously)

Jamie here, over the years I’ve pulled lots of little April Fool’s pranks on family and friends, but this by far the BEST April Fool’s prank I’ve ever done to anyone. 😉

I first saw this prank here, and besides it being utterly brilliant, the recipient of this prank probably won’t end up hating you for encasing their stapler in Jello or soaking them with the sink nozzle. If this is a little too “techy” for you, Amazon has lots of little gag gifts that are hard to find in stores these days (Hand buzzers, snakes in a can, all the classics!)

How the Cat Facts Prank works:

The main gist of Cat Facts prank is that you’ll send someone a text saying they are now subscribed to Cat Facts. Then begin texting fun and random cat facts. (You can get lots of cat facts here)

catfacts-text

Around the 2nd or 3rd text, include an option to cancel the cat facts. When they follow the cancellation directions, gleefully ignore them, text a few more facts, and change up the unsubscribe commands. When they again try to unsubscribe, ignore their request, text more facts, and change the directions again. Repeat.

They’ll play along, getting increasingly irritated until you decide they’ve had enough torture (or run out of cat facts to send them) 😉

Sound like something you’d like to subject a loved one to? Alright, let’s get started!

First of all, you’ll need to set up a free Google Voice account – because you can send Texts without it showing up as your name/number. This is the crucial the Cat Facts prank! Here’s how to do the Cat Facts Prank by first setting up a free texting phone # in Google Voice.

How to text anonymously from Google Voice account:

  1. Set up a FREE Google Voice Account and Check that you want a new number (so yours won’t be recognized)
  2. When asked for a forwarding #, enter your own mobile phone number.
  3. Google will then verify that you have access to this phone by calling you.
  4. You’ll now be asked to make up your pretend phone # – have fun with it! (I typed in “Cat” and hit search – it found me an available # with the word cat in it 😉 )
  5. You’re now ready to TEXT! Choose Text from the left-sidebar and enter the phone number of your victim. Text them a cat fact and hit SEND.

The person I wanted to prank was my brother-in-law who is a barrel-racing, truck-driving, cattle-raising kind of guy. He loves dogs and country music. Exactly the kind of guy who would welcome random (and copious amounts) of Cat Facts text messages. Right??

Here’s part of the transcript of the Cat Facts Prank I did to my brother-in-law last year – God love, him he did forgive me eventually…

There is actually a record of Yahoo searches dedicated to “How to Stop Cat Facts from Texting Me?!”

NOTE: I would refrain from doing this prank to anyone who has text limits, as it will end up costing them $$.
