If you are looking for more slow cooker recipes for the keto diet, this is the one! This Slow Cooker Cheesy Chicken Recipe with Bacon is going to become a new family favorite! It is so delicious and super easy for us busy moms to make on the busiest of days.
SLOW COOKER CHEESY CHICKEN RECIPE WITH BACON
I’ve had such a busy week and didn’t want to spend a lot of time in the kitchen preparing dinner. Knowing that I don’t have to stop everything I’m doing to prepare dinner late in the afternoon is so nice, especially with 2 babies 2 and under. That time of day, everything seems to go haywire around here.
So, I was looking on Pinterest for a recipe that I could throw together for dinner when I got the inspiration to make this Creamy Slow Cooker Cheesy Chicken Recipe with Bacon. I saw lots of recipes for Crack Chicken, but I find that recipe to be too “cream cheesy” tasting (if that is even a word.) I reduced the amount of cream cheese in this recipe, added some spices, heavy whipping cream, and cheddar cheese to give it a completely different flavor. It turned out perfectly!
This is such a delicious meal all in one dish! You can serve this with your favorite roasted broccoli or cauliflower as a complete meal. The best part? Everyone in your family will enjoy this recipe – even those who aren’t on a low carb or keto diet plan! This slow cooker chicken cheese recipe is certain to be a hit!

- Butter – butter always adds incredible flavor and needed fat for this recipe
- Poultry seasoning, Rosemary, Thyme, and Garlic – Spices make everything better and add great flavor.
- Chicken broth – chicken broth adds more flavor than water when slow cooking chicken.
- Cooked bacon – crispy bacon makes everything better.

Hi! What’s the fat, protein and carb info on this dish? Looks fantastic!
Kasey says
I have added that information to the bottom of the recipe. Thank you!
Marion says
I made this last night and it was amazing! The only addition I made was adding fresh mushrooms to the slow cooker. Loved it! The sauce had a great consistency.
Kasey says
Perfect! Glad you enjoyed it. I have it in my crockpot today for dinner tonight.
Amanda says
I have this cooking right now andnit smells amazing!
I am just wondering, though, how much is in 1 serving (not carbs but amount of food) 🙂
Kasey says
I didn’t measure the size of each serving. Instead, I just divided it into equal servings so that I could figure out the macros.
Brittany says
Is that based on 4 or 6 pieces of chicken
Kasey says
I used four really huge chicken breasts that were probably equivalent to 6 regular sized ones.
Alfie says
In my fitness pal it says 1 cup is a serving.
Tiffany says
What happened to steps 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, and 14?
Kasey says
Those steps are the pictures included in the recipe. The plug in that creates the printable recipe box does that automatically.
Katy Murphy says
So the steps are all in order, we aren’t missing anything? The plug in just re-numbered them?
Kasey says
The plug in counted the images as a step.
Lisa says
So the heavy cream and the cream cheese go in AFTER it has finished the slow cooker cycle?
Kasey says
Yes
Mike says
If you add the cream in at the beginning of the slow cooker cycle, how would it affect the outcome?
Kasey says
I’m not sure I’ve never tried it.
Denise Jean Ruiz says
Looks amazing, I’m cooking it at this moment, can’t wait to try. Thanks for sharing
Kasey says
Awesome! Hope you enjoyed it!
Ron says
Do you keep all the liquid?
Kasey says
I did.
Mary says
Hi! Is it ok to put the chicken in the crock pot while it is still frozen? Or did you throw it in already thawed?
Kasey says
I thaw mine before putting it in the crock pot.
Paul says
I made this yesterday, and it was utterly delicious. I’ll definitely be making it again. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Angela Lindsay says
I am confused cause it calls for 3 pieces of bacon crumbled for the whole recipe but you use it in the crock pot and wjen you put the cheese on it later.
Kasey says
3 pieces of bacon crumbled is actually listed twice in the ingredients. First, for the crockpot, then to crumble on top later. Thanks!
Marcy says
When I look at the recipe it skips every other step I can see for example. Step 1,3,5,7,9 why I’d it missing steps I don’t see when to use the chicken broth is there a recipe you can email me?
Kasey says
It actually doesn’t skip steps. The recipe plugin is counting the pics as steps.
Barbara says
This looks good. Do you slice the chicken breasts in half or leave them be? Thanks.
Kasey says
It’s up to you.
Peter says
Can I add Everything at Once rather than two have all the additional steps? a crock pot recipe should only require a crock pot it seems to me.
Kasey says
You can sure try. Sometimes, milk based type products breakdown in the crock pot.
Sheri says
I just put this on to cook. Can’t wait to try it!!
Do you serve this with anything else? I was thinking pasta (for the rest of my family who isn’t low carb)
Kasey says
I serve it with either a veggie like broccoli or a garden salad.
Jaimie H. says
I just made this tonight for dinner, but I didn’t have any bacon so I used broccoli instead and it was delicious!!!
Kasey says
Yum! That sounds fabulous.
Ilana says
So good. Even my 11 year old liked it. So filling I didnt finish my portion
Kasey says
Awesome!
Cara Caramanna says
Is there a step number 3? I am making this Sunday, so I don’t want to miss anything! Looks delicious!
Cara Caramanna says
Never mind I see it!
Betsy says
What could be used in place of xanthum gum?
Kasey says
I’m not sure I haven’t tried using anything else.
Jennifer Martin says
I USED CORNSTARCH
D says
I would like to know what Xanthan Gum is exactly and what does it do for the recipe? I’m new with this life change so I just didn’t understand.
Kasey says
Xanthan Gum is a keto approved thickening agent. If you don’t have it, the food will taste the same but the sauce will be thin.
Monique Hester says
Maybe cut down on the stock to just 1/4 cup and maybe add more cream cheese and you won’t have to use a thickening agent.
Lynn says
Can this be done in the oven? NO instant pot and no slow cooker.
Kasey says
I’m sure it could. I haven’t tried it though. I’d probably try on the stove first.
Travis says
I am trying this tonight, and it’s the first time I’ve used a slow cooker. I went a little ingrediate crazy and added everything up to cream cheese and heavy cream to start. Will this ruin the meal? Not sure what 4 hours of cooked heavy cream will result! Help!
Kasey says
Hi Travis,
I’m not sure. I haven’t tried making it that way. Let me know how it turns out.
Amanda says
I just made this and it’s realky good. However, I dunno how you got 8 servings unless you’re feeding a baby. I got 4 servings and it’s still kinda small portions. That’d be really sad if this little bit is 604 calories lol
Kasey says
Glad you enjoyed it. Lol! I think we’ve gotten used to eating small portions now that we get full so fast with keto.
Jennifer Martin says
I cannot find this in MyFitnesspal.
Kasey says
I may not have saved it and logged it in the system. However, you can import it into MyFitnessPal using the uRL.
Ethel says
Can it be done with chicken thighs instead of breast?
Kasey says
Sure!
Ellie says
I just made this & will be having it for dinner tomorrow! Can’t wait to try it! =)
Amber N says
Hi, just wondering if you have a more printer friendly version of this recipe? One that doesn’t have all the pictures? Thanks!
Kasey says
Not at this time, but I will be converting all of my recipes over to a new recipe plugin that will be more printer friendly. It will just take some time since there are hundreds of recipes on my site.
