As a mom of four, with two kids 2 yrs old and younger, I do a lot of shopping online. It just takes so much effort to haul us all on shopping trips. Then, as soon as we unload and get in the store someone has to potty, or a diaper needs to be changed, or the baby is starving, or the two-year-old is breaking down because it’s nap time, etc. The list could go on and on. I’m not complaining as I absolutely love the season of life I am in and am so thankful for my babies. However, shopping in stores just isn’t a joyful experience right now when all my kids are with me. Thankfully, online shopping is fabulous!
As fall is quickly approaching, I am realizing more than ever that I need new clothes. You see, out of the past 3 years, I’ve been pregnant, trying to lose baby weight, pregnant again, and then losing baby weight again. Finally, after much hard work and dedication, I’ve lost all of my baby weight and then some, so this momma needs a new wardrobe. I’m also 6 ft tall, which is another reason for shopping online. Many stores offer tall sizes online that they don’t offer in store. My favorite store to shop online is Old Navy. Y’all know that I love finding good deals so I thought I’d walk you through how I find discount codes, free shipping, and Old Navy cash back offers to get the best deal.
Sign up for store specific emails
When you go to OldNavy.com create an account. I get emails several times a week alerting me of various offers.
I never pay full price at Old Navy. In fact, there have been several times I’ve ran in one of their retail locations and items were full priced compared to a 40% online coupon code I had gotten in my email earlier that day.
Search for coupon codes online
It pays to do your research before making a purchase and with the power of the internet at your fingertips, it doesn’t take but just a few minutes of research to know you have saved the most.
First, I checked Retail Me Not. Other than the 40% off promotion that I had already found on Old Navy.com there aren’t any other “real sales” as the other links are just advertisements to what is being offered in the store.
Next, I searched on another large deal site, Brad’s Deals. Brad’s Deals is only showing 2 deals, and it hasn’t been updated in a year. The first deal is for in-store only. The second deal of free shipping on a $50 purchase is standard.
My next search at SlickDeals brought up much the same with lots of deals that had already expired. Still, I don’t see anything different than the discount I saw originally on Old Navy’s website.
Finally, I searched Dealspotr and offers I hadn’t seen before popped up. Dealspotr was the only site that I searched out of the four that offered single use codes. So, on days when Old Navy isn’t already having a sale or if there are exclusions to the offer, I can search Dealspotr for single use codes to get a discount on my order. Today when I searched 72 different single use codes were displayed on their site. For your convenience, I’ve included step by step directions of how to use Dealspotr for discounts to make it easier when you want to search for online codes.
First, I signed up with Dealspotr. Dealspotr is like google for ads. With all kinds of ads, sales, promo codes, coupon codes, etc. spread all over the internet finding exactly what I am looking for isn’t always easy. Dealspotr contains and organizes information about tens of thousands of new deals every day, and they keep that information updated in real-time. Now, instead of searching all over the place online (and often finding sites that aren’t helpful at all), I can search for available deals for just about anywhere. I can even join in the community if I’d like and post deals, share coupon codes, and earn points.
Then, I type Old Navy in the search window. As you can see, in the window right underneath where I typed Old Navy, it has popped up as an option. I clicked on Old Navy and was routed to all the Old Navy deals.
First, I looked on the left-hand side where I have circled in red. Here I can choose exactly what kind of deal or coupon I am looking for to get the very best deal on my purchase. You’ll also see Single Use Codes listed at the bottom. Single use codes are very specific codes that can only be used once that I had referenced in my initial search earlier. Perhaps someone received an exclusive online offer but knew they weren’t going to be able to use it. Instead of it going to waste, they posted in the Dealspotr community so that someone else could use it. If there isn’t a good promo code available or if the store promotion has exclusions, the single use coupon code is something to check out.
Compare Coupon Codes
In this case, the very first deal that I saw on Old Navy’s site of 40% off looks like the best deal since it is a higher discount than the 30% single use code offer. However, this promo code is only available for a day or so and often I have found that there are exclusions that the blanket offers don’t cover while the single use coupon codes do. So, I thought I’d enter both coupons codes at check out and compare the total of both carts. If I were to use one of the single use codes, it would look like this.
Once I clicked view discount” I was taken to this screen where it says that there is a high likelihood for this coupon to work based on feedback from the Dealspotr community and that it expires in 1 week. In the bottom right corner, one person in the community validated this coupon. Everything looked agreeable to me so I clicked copy code and “Use it at Old Navy’s website” where I was routed to Old Navy to shop online as I normally would.
After shopping click check out. There, you’ll complete your personal information including shipping address and credit card info. Then, towards the bottom left-hand side of the page, you’ll see this box where you will enter your promo code.
Here is my total after entering the single use coupon code for 30% off my purchase. As you can see, I saved $24.60.
Note: If the first code you enter says that it has already been used try a different one. It took me trying three different codes to find one that had not been used.
Here is my cart after entering the 40% off coupon code. I wanted to compare the difference if I used the 40% off promotion that Old Navy is offering versus the 30% off single use code. Evidently, the 40% off promotion they are offering excludes these pants that I wanted to order. So, just by comparing the two different coupon codes, I saved $24.60 by using a single use code! The larger discount code isn’t always the best offer. That is a great lesson learned. I don’t know about you, but I’d much rather pay $24.60 less for the same items.
Shopping at Old Navy can be very affordable, and there are so many ways to save money. Taking just a few moments to search coupon codes while sitting at home on my couch taking care of my babies saved my family enough money to order pizza this week for dinner one night. Yay! I get new pants and a night off from cooking dinner. You don’t get much better than that.
