I’m so excited about starting a new series on ways to save money – this time it’s a super-fun topic: Spring Decorating Ideas on a Budget! Each day for the next 12 days, I’ll be sharing or linking to a way to freshen up your home for Spring on the cheap 🙂 Feel free to leave your ideas in the comments – we may include them in the list!
After you put away the Christmas tree and sweep away the last trace of wrapping paper – the mind beings to switch gears to Spring…. Suddenly, we’re ready to pack up throw blankets and heavy drapes and make the house feel airy and bright and decluttered again – but with a depleted bank account it can be a little tricky. Here are some Spring decorating ideas on a budget – really these ideas apply to most any season as they are all ways to frugally transform a room with the help of some wise buys and a little ingenuity.
1. Change out your throw pillows with inexpensive covers
This is one of my FAVORITES!
Changing out the covers on your throw pillows can dramatically brighten and update a room, but also keeps you from having to buy entirely new pillows (an average cost of $15 – $30 each). Plus – there’s a HUGE variety of pillow covers to choose from. Check out Amazon’s selection for the best prices and super fun prints – but keep an eye out at Target as they introduce Spring-themed 2-packs for a reasonable price as well.
If you don’t have 18″ pillow inserts that fit the average pillow-cover, pick some up to start with for just around $4.50 each.
2. Make Inexpensive Curtains
This one has saved me some big bucks over the years! New brighter curtains, sheers, or a vibrant pattern can completely change the feel of (and how much light is being let into) a room! But they can be very expensive – so check out these 4 DIY Curtain tips! I’ve made curtains from sheets, shower curtains, tablecloths, and sets of cafe curtains from larger panels.
