Keto Big Mac Salad Recipe (with Creamy Dressing)
Big macs on a keto diet? Yes! This Keto Big Mac Salad recipe will satisfy those big mac craving any day of the week! Made with seasoned ground beef, fresh veggies, and topped with a deliciously creamy big mac burger sauce, I promise you will NOT miss the McDonald’s version!
How to make a keto big mac salad
Cheeseburger fan but sticking to a keto diet? I got you covered.
This big mac salad recipe is keto-friendly, low carb, and packed with those burger flavors we all love! This delicious salad is made with low carb, crisp veggies, and topped with a seasoned meat mixture that is packed with burger flavors. I love adding freshly grated cheddar cheese to many of my keto salads, and this one is no different. When you add it to the top of your warmed meat mixture, it will slightly melt, reminding you of a warm juicy cheeseburger. The creamy tangy burger “dressing” is what makes a big mac, so make sure you don’t leave it out!
Big Mac Keto Salad Ingredients:
- Ground beef – Ground beef has the most flavor and fat. If you prefer you can substitute with ground turkey.
- Ketchup- This adds lots of flavor to your salad. Just make sure to choose ketchup that is sugar-free.
- Mustard- You might be surprised to know there is mustard in that big mac dressing. It adds another flavor you can’t leave out.
- Worcestershire, Braggs aminos- I love the ‘umami’ flavor. Both of these ingredients add to ground beef.
- Veggies- What’s a salad without fresh veggies?! I use romaine lettuce, red onion, and tomatoes.
- Shredded cheddar – If you love cheese on your cheeseburgers, don’t skip out on the cheddar!
- Dill pickles- A classic addition, they add a delicious tang and flavor that scream big mac!
- Besti monkfruit allulose blend powdered: This is a sugar-free sweetener I use for the big mac sauce.
Steps for making keto big mac salad:
Step 1: In a medium skillet brown ground beef, then drain. Add sugar-free ketchup, mustard, ketchup, Braggs aminos, Worcestershire, salt, pepper, and oregano. Simmer on low for 2 minutes.
Step 2: While it is simmering, wash and dry lettuce, then chop and place in four bowls. Add the meat mixture, chopped onions, pickles, and tomatoes to each bowl of lettuce. If you prefer, you can also put all the ingredients in a large salad bowl instead of individual serving bowls.
Step 3: Add your big mac sauce ingredients to a small bowl then stir.
Step 4: Top each bowl with a drizzle of your big mac sauce and dig in!
The keto big mac sauce
The big mac sauce, or burger sauce, is your dressing for this salad. It is what makes this salad a “big mac salad’. Without it, it would be just a salad with ground beef on top. It is creamy, tangy, and a favorite for McDonald’s fans. Normal big mac sauce is NOT keto-friendly because of the added sugars that are mixed in. Many recipes call for Thousand Island dressing, which contains many ingredients that most of those who follow a low carb diet avoid. This homemade special sauce recipe is a much better choice.
Big mac sauce sweetener options:
For the sauce, I used Besti Monk fruit Allulose Blend Powdered Sweetener, which I think has the least after-taste. If you want to use other sweeteners, you can use Swerve Confectioners, and Lakanto Monk Fruit Powdered, both can be subbed at a 1:1 ratio.
