90 Second Keto Bread is one of those recipes that everyone on the ketogenic diet needs in their life if they miss bread. Quick and easy to make, you’ll love having a low carb bread option at your fingertips. This is seriously the best keto bread recipe.
90 SECOND KETO BREAD
A hamburger bun or slice of bread might be what many of us dream about those first few weeks of eating a keto diet. I think we all start looking for some kind of substitute to satisfy our bread cravings. I know I tried a host of different recipes, which left me feeling disappointed mostly.
Then, I started hearing about 90-Second Keto Bread. If you’ve ever tasted it straight out of the microwave, you may understand why I think it is a lifeless, dull, flimsy eggy bread. I am just not that desperate for bread if I have to eat it like that.
I love tweaking recipes and thought there has to be a solution that would bring this keto bread to life. The key to a delicious 90-second keto bread recipe is browning it in a skillet before serving with a little butter to make it crisp.
WHAT IS 90-SECOND KETO BREAD?
It is simply a single portion of a keto-friendly bread cooked in the microwave for 90 seconds.
HOW MANY CARBS IN 90-SECOND BREAD?
This particular recipe has 1g net carbs per serving. This will vary depending on the serving size.
INGREDIENTS FOR 90-SECOND KETO BREAD:
- Egg (you can also use an egg white if you are particularly sensitive to foods tasting eggy)
- coconut flour
- butter
- sour cream
- baking powder
- cheese
- pinch of salt
After you mix up all the ingredients, it will look a little lumpy like this in the picture above. Now, you simply microwave for 90 seconds.
This is sad, lifeless 90-Second Keto Bread straight out of the microwave. You don’t want to eat it like this as it will taste spongey and eggy. The next steps are the most important in the process of making the best keto bread recipe.
How to reheat and cut your low carb bread
I tend to make my 90-Second Keto bread rather thin in a ramekin instead of a mug. Otherwise, it is just too thick for me. You’ll need a serrated bread knife to cut the bread in half horizontally.
Melt butter in a skillet and sear bread on both sides until it’s crispy. I use an 8″ skillet.
There are so many ways to enjoy this 90 second bread keto recipe.

90-SECOND KETO BREAD WITH BACON AND CHEESE
Crispy thick-cut bacon and a variety of cheeses make this bacon and cheese sandwich simply divine.

KETO FRENCH DIP SANDWICH
Last night I made Keto Pot Roast and remembered a recipe at lunch today where you serve pot roast on bread with melted cheese. As I was making the bread, I decided to change up some of the ingredients in hopes of making it even better. I can say that it was a total success. You do still need to crisp it up in a skillet or toaster oven for sure, but the flavor is so much better with the changes I made.
GRILLED CHEESE KETO SANDWICH
This Grilled Cheese on 90-Second Keto Bread is delicious with two kinds of cheese. There are so many ways to enjoy this amazing low carb bread substitute.

Can I premake the ingredients leave it in the fridge then pull it out later to make. I would like to make large batches or the entire week and then bring them out And microwave it daily.
Kasey says
I haven’t tried. Let me know how it turns out.
I says
I’m new to keto and would love to try this but I don’t own a microwave. What can I do instead?
Kasey says
You could try baking it in the oven. I’m not sure of baking time though as I always microwave it.
Susan says
Tried this recipe tonight and used Colby Jack. Browning in butter was a great idea. I will definitely use it again, actually I made a second recipe to go with our Hamburger soup tonight. Perfect! Thanks for sharing.
Kasey says
Awesome! Glad you liked it!
Marcia Miller says
HI! First of all I cannot make anything with flour that might taste like coconut….LOL I made your bread this morning with Almond flour and all of the other ingredients. I will tell you that it was delicious…..I didn’t toast the bread but it was delicious as an egg with cheese sandwich!!! I will be doing this over and over and over again!
Kasey says
Fantastic!
Ruthanne Degen says
What was the ratio of almond flour to coconut flour did you use I know they’re not one to one
Sherry says
I just made this exactly according to the recipe (and I also HATE the taste of coconut flour), and I must say, there was only the slightest noticeable flavor of coconut, which disappeared after frying it in butter.
However, I then made a double batch using 2T coconut flour AND 3T almond flour and it came out great!
Kim says
Great recipe! I was looking for a 90 second bread recipe and saw you had one. Of course that was the one I was going to use since your recipes are so wonderful! Thanks for sharing all your wonderful recipes. Your talent blesses all of us that are trying to be successful on keto!
Kasey says
Thank you so much for your kind words. I’m so glad you loved it.
Juli says
WOW! Just WOW! This truly is a game changer. I used this to make my buns for bacon cheese burgers. Toasted, all the fixin’s. I was so full, it was just awesome. Made it exactly as listed. I think the major difference was the coconut flour, liked it so much better.
How could I put a sweet spin on it, since it calls for cheddar?
Kasey says
Yay! So glad you loved it.
How about 90-Second French Toast? https://kaseytrenum.com/keto-french-toast/
Trisha says
I LOVE your recipes and website! Quick question…I’m not too keen on using a microwave due to radiation, so could I make this recipe in the oven? Ty and God bless!!!!
Kasey says
Hey Trisha, I have only used the microwave for this recipe.
Romona Barker says
I’ve heard of people just frying the batter in a skillet
Debracadabra says
This is my go to for sandwiches. A great Burger bun or Grilled Chesse (w/ stinky brie!) I like it a little thicker so I used a 3 inch bowl. Also use Lipton Onion soup mix in my sour cream (minimal sugar and carbs when mixed with 8oz of sour cream) & I highly recommend this stuff to season everything..https://www.penzeys.com/online-catalog/sandwich-sprinkle/c-24/p-594/pd-s. Spice up the sandwich with some Boars Head Chipolte Gourmaise….mmm
Corinna says
Well Done!!!! Toasted with butter made it crispy.
Katy LeMasters says

Tried making this for the first time, and my hubby loved it! He raved that the consistency was just right! We will be making this recipe a lot!
Kasey says
Glad you all liked it! Thanks, Sharon.
Shelley says
Fantastic! Just made this for myself as the recipe states. Then added a bit of cinnamon and sweetener to the top. So yummy ! Can’t wait to make the French toast, turn this into a bacon cheese sandwich, or the strawberry shortcake. Love all of your recipes I have tried! Thank you for being so generous ..
Kasey says
Awe, thanks, Shelley! Glad you are enjoying!
Danielle says
I’ve been using your recipe for years. I like to change it up depending on what I’m in the mood for. I’ll add a tiny bit of vanilla and cinnamon and make it into French toast if I want sweet. Or add pepper jack cheese and some red pepper if I want something spicy. It’s very versatile.
Kasey says
Glad you like it!!
mary says
The very best 90 second keto bread I have tried! I will be making the loaf soon.
Thank you!
Kasey says
Thanks, Mary! Glad you like it!!
Ruthanne Degen says
Hi I am one who doesn’t have a microwave can I make this in a regular oven if so how would I do that
Mary says
anyone try adding xanthan gum or beef gelatin to it for a breadlike consistency. I did that with chocolate chip cookies and it worked great.
Carolyn says
I don’t always have sour cream around. It is one of those items that I use here and there. Often I have to throw it out before I use it all. Any chance Greek yogurt would work in its place?
Kasey says
I’m not sure. I’ve never tested it with greek yogurt. I have subbed cream cheese and it worked just fine.
Carolyn says
Thanks for your response! I’m going to first make it as shown, but the cream cheese is another good option. If I try the yogurt, I’ll let you know how it turns out!😃
Lindsay says
This is great toasted with butter and under some fried eggs!
Mary Trenum says
That sounds really good!
Christine Horton says
The best one!!!
Mary Trenum says
Glad you enjoyed it. Love that we can have ‘bread’ while eating keto.
Sheila Clark says
Can this be made without a micro-wave…ie, conventional oven?
Kasey says
Sure, you’ll just have to watch it to know when it is done. I’d bake it at 350 degrees.
Teresa Wieman says
Anyone tried this in the mini waffle grille, like a chaffle?
Kasey says
I haven’t tried this exact recipe as a chaffle. I’m not sure if it would work out, but it might. If you give it a try let me know if it works.
Patricia Louise says
Awesome my favorite. I have tried them all and this is the best. Thank You
.Kasey says
That’s great! I’m glad it’s your favorite.
Sherry says
Kasey, Anyway I can make this without the cheese? My husband won’t touch anything with cheese in it unless I can sneak cream cheese in if there’s enough other flavors so he doesn’t taste it. A lot of times I just leave the cheese out, but this looks like one of the main ingredients. Thanks
.Kasey says
There are chaffles that are made without cheese. My chocolate chip chaffle recipe has no cheese. kaseytrenum.com/chaffle-keto-recipe
KB says
Can i use something other than sour cream or does it need to be sour cream to be keto?
Kasey says
You could try cream cheese.
Sophia says
So easy and really hits the ‘bread’ craving!
Kasey says
So glad you enjoyed it.
Lady says
I made a quadruple batch of this and instead of cooking then splitting it, I split it in half in the Tupperware type burger shaper. Microwave about 50-60 seconds and Perfect burger size!! I froze mine and pop them in the toaster for use.
Kasey says
Perfect! That sounds like a great idea.
