90 SECOND KETO BREAD

A hamburger bun or slice of bread might be what many of us dream about those first few weeks of eating a keto diet. I think we all start looking for some kind of substitute to satisfy our bread cravings. I know I tried a host of different recipes, which left me feeling disappointed mostly.

Then, I started hearing about 90-Second Keto Bread. If you’ve ever tasted it straight out of the microwave, you may understand why I think it is a lifeless, dull, flimsy eggy bread. I am just not that desperate for bread if I have to eat it like that.

I love tweaking recipes and thought there has to be a solution that would bring this keto bread to life. The key to a delicious 90-second keto bread recipe is browning it in a skillet before serving with a little butter to make it crisp.

WHAT IS 90-SECOND KETO BREAD?

It is simply a single portion of a keto-friendly bread cooked in the microwave for 90 seconds.

HOW MANY CARBS IN 90-SECOND BREAD?

This particular recipe has 1g net carbs per serving. This will vary depending on the serving size.

INGREDIENTS FOR 90-SECOND KETO BREAD:

  • Egg (you can also use an egg white if you are particularly sensitive to foods tasting eggy)
  • coconut flour
  • butter
  • sour cream
  • baking powder
  • cheese
  • pinch of salt

After you mix up all the ingredients, it will look a little lumpy like this in the picture above. Now, you simply microwave for 90 seconds.

This is sad, lifeless 90-Second Keto Bread straight out of the microwave. You don’t want to eat it like this as it will taste spongey and eggy. The next steps are the most important in the process of making the best keto bread recipe.

How to reheat and cut your low carb bread

I tend to make my 90-Second Keto bread rather thin in a ramekin instead of a mug. Otherwise, it is just too thick for me. You’ll need a serrated bread knife to cut the bread in half horizontally.

Melt butter in a skillet and sear bread on both sides until it’s crispy. I use an 8″ skillet.

KETO FRENCH DIP SANDWICH

Last night I made Keto Pot Roast and remembered a recipe at lunch today where you serve pot roast on bread with melted cheese. As I was making the bread, I decided to change up some of the ingredients in hopes of making it even better. I can say that it was a total success. You do still need to crisp it up in a skillet or toaster oven for sure, but the flavor is so much better with the changes I made.

  1. Can I premake the ingredients leave it in the fridge then pull it out later to make. I would like to make large batches or the entire week and then bring them out And microwave it daily.

    1. I’m new to keto and would love to try this but I don’t own a microwave. What can I do instead?

    2. You could try baking it in the oven. I’m not sure of baking time though as I always microwave it.

  2. Tried this recipe tonight and used Colby Jack. Browning in butter was a great idea. I will definitely use it again, actually I made a second recipe to go with our Hamburger soup tonight. Perfect! Thanks for sharing.

  3. HI! First of all I cannot make anything with flour that might taste like coconut….LOL I made your bread this morning with Almond flour and all of the other ingredients. I will tell you that it was delicious…..I didn’t toast the bread but it was delicious as an egg with cheese sandwich!!! I will be doing this over and over and over again!

    1. What was the ratio of almond flour to coconut flour did you use I know they’re not one to one

    2. 5 stars
I just made this exactly according to the recipe (and I also HATE the taste of coconut flour), and I must say, there was only the slightest noticeable flavor of coconut, which disappeared after frying it in butter.

However, I then made a double batch using 2T coconut flour AND 3T almond flour and it came out great!

  4. Great recipe! I was looking for a 90 second bread recipe and saw you had one. Of course that was the one I was going to use since your recipes are so wonderful! Thanks for sharing all your wonderful recipes. Your talent blesses all of us that are trying to be successful on keto!

  5. WOW! Just WOW! This truly is a game changer. I used this to make my buns for bacon cheese burgers. Toasted, all the fixin’s. I was so full, it was just awesome. Made it exactly as listed. I think the major difference was the coconut flour, liked it so much better.
How could I put a sweet spin on it, since it calls for cheddar?

  6. I LOVE your recipes and website! Quick question…I’m not too keen on using a microwave due to radiation, so could I make this recipe in the oven? Ty and God bless!!!!

  7. Tried making this for the first time, and my hubby loved it! He raved that the consistency was just right! We will be making this recipe a lot!

  8. 5 stars
Fantastic! Just made this for myself as the recipe states. Then added a bit of cinnamon and sweetener to the top. So yummy ! Can’t wait to make the French toast, turn this into a bacon cheese sandwich, or the strawberry shortcake. Love all of your recipes I have tried! Thank you for being so generous ..

  9. 5 stars
I’ve been using your recipe for years. I like to change it up depending on what I’m in the mood for. I’ll add a tiny bit of vanilla and cinnamon and make it into French toast if I want sweet. Or add pepper jack cheese and some red pepper if I want something spicy. It’s very versatile.

  10. Hi I am one who doesn’t have a microwave can I make this in a regular oven if so how would I do that

  11. anyone try adding xanthan gum or beef gelatin to it for a breadlike consistency. I did that with chocolate chip cookies and it worked great.
