Common Asked Questions about the Keto Lifestyle:
1. How Do I Get Started?
Research is your best friend so that you can be your best health advocate. A great place to get started is with this Guide to Getting Started. Amazon also has several excellent books you may want to check out here. It’s all about learning what works best for you and your family.
2. Is It Necessary to Follow a Keto Meal Plan?
No, you don’t have to follow a set meal plan when following a keto diet. However, I do post a new keto meal plan every Sunday afternoon for those who need help or inspiration to plan their week. There isn’t anything magical about the meal plan that brings more significant weight loss; it just might be helpful to stay on track if you struggle not knowing what to cook.
3. How Much Fat Should I Eat?
Most who follow keto eat a high fat, moderate protein, and low carb diet. The macros break down to 75% fat, 20% protein, and 5% carbs.
4. Are Keto Recipes Gluten-Free?
A ketogenic diet is naturally low in gluten because it is grain-free. Those who eat low carb use almond flour and coconut flour, which are gluten-free instead of regular flours that are not gluten-free or keto-friendly.
**Because we have serious nut allergies in our family, I understand the seriousness of food allergies and sensitivities and therefore stay away from blanket statements. I always suggest reading each label to verify that every ingredient that you use is gluten-free.

3. Cheesy Mexican Cheesy Skillet
7. BBQ Keto Chicken Casserole Recipe with Bacon & Cheese
8. No-Bake Keto Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars

Hi Kasey! Have you ever considered putting together a recipe book for people like me who prefer to have a physical copy to hold and turn pages rather than an online copy? I think it would be a real hit. I’d be your first customer!
Shelly, thanks so much for your kind words. In this season on life, I’m not sure it is something I could tackle. Perhaps in the future. 🙂
Totally understandable! Something to really think about, but in the meantime, I’ll continue following your wonderful recipes and Keto on!
I see that you use coconut flour a lot. Can you substitute Almond Flour?
Yes, you can but will need to use 4x as much almond flour. I always use coconut flour because my oldest daughter has a severe nut allergy.
Hello Kasey, my wife and I are both retired and grew up eating anything we liked, steak, fried foods of all kinds, pasta, potatoes (baked, fried, mashed, scalloped etc.), pizza, pancakes, etc. We are now 3 weeks into trying Keto. Since retirement I do most of the cooking and that consisted mostly of comfort foods. I stumbled across one of your recipes, Spaghetti squash lasagna. I have never eaten spaghetti squash in my life, let alone cook it. But I have always been a gambler, so I gave it a try and voila, we loved it. I have since made the blueberry chaffles, the cheese garlic chaffles, the low carb keto bread and we have been pleasantly surprised with each and everyone. I will be trying many more. Thank you so much for the recipes.
You made my day! I’m thrilled you are enjoying my recipes.
I agree….your recipes are great and it would be nice to have them all collected in a book!
I thought I saw a recipe for Pork Chops done in the crockpot, but I can’t find it anywhere. Is there such a recipe? Would really appreciate getting it if it exists.
Hi! I included information in the blog post about preparing the pork chops in a crock pot and then making the sauce in a skillet when they are done. For your convenience, I’ve included the direct link below. Make sure to look for the heading titled “Can You Make Keto Pork Chops in the Slow Cooker?” You’ll find the details there. Hope this helps. https://kaseytrenum.com/creamy-parmesan-garlic-pork-chops/
