What ingredients do you need to make Keto Christmas cookies?
Some of the ingredients used to make Keto Christmas Cookies may not be in your pantry, especially if you are just getting started following a ketogenic lifestyle. You’ll need different kinds of flours, sweeteners, and possibly Xanthan Gum to create keto-friendly recipes in place of your favorite sweet treats. Also, be aware that Keto sweet treats will not taste exactly like regular cookies. Since there is no gluten or regular sugar in keto friendly treats, the texture and taste will be different. However, when you are craving something sweet and are determined to stay on track, they are an excellent substitute. Not all keto specialty ingredients can be found in local grocery stores, so I’ve included links to purchase from Amazon.
What’s the best Keto friendly flour?
Almond flour is probably the most common keto flour substitute, but I use coconut flour in all of my Keto Christmas Cookies because my oldest daughter is allergic to almonds. The biggest mistake that you can make with coconut flour is using too much. Coconut flour is very absorbent, so you’ll need only a small amount compared to how much regular flour you would use. If you prefer to use almond flour, keep in mind that it does measure the same as regular flour. Generally, coconut flour is 1/4 cup to 1 cup almond flour if you need to make a substitution.
What are the best Keto sweeteners to use in Keto Christmas Cookies?
I’ve listed my favorite keto sweeteners below. If your local grocery store doesn’t carry these, simply click the link to order on Amazon and have it shipped straight to your door! Lakanto Monkfruit and Swerve products are interchangeable. For example, you can sub Lakanto Monkfruit Golden if a recipe calls for Swerve Brown. People tend have different preferences, but I have used and enjoy both options!
Lakanto Monkfruit
- Lakanto Monkfruit Granulated
- Lakanto Monkfruit Powdered
- Lakanto Monkfruit Golden – this is a keto friendly brown sugar substitute
Swerve
- Swerve Granulated
- Swerve Confectioners
- Swerve Brown – this is a keto friendly brown sugar substitute
What in the world is Xanthan Gum and why do I need it?
Xanthan Gum is a thickening agent used in many soups, stews, and sauces as well as a stabilizing agent in recipes like Keto Christmas Cookies. The Xanthan Gum helps the ingredients to stick together better, and it creates a better texture in many keto recipes. A small amount goes a long way. While it may not be available to purchase in your local grocery store, Amazon carries many different options.
Now that you know how about keto specialty ingredients you’ll need, let’s talk about how to make the sweets! In no particular order, here are some of the best Keto Christmas Cookies for the holiday season! This roundup of Keto Christmas cookies, candy, and bars has something for every preference and occasion. They’re fantastic for potlucks, office parties, and family get-togethers. Enjoy!
